Our yard is at 747 Walden Avenue in the City of Buffalo, minutes from the I-90 at Exit 52 (the exit signed Buffalo – Cheektowaga – Walden Avenue) and the I-190. From there we deliver across the City of Buffalo, from the West Side and Elmwood to Kaisertown, Lovejoy, South Buffalo, North Buffalo and University Heights, and to the towns and villages around it. Each page below covers the local dumpster rule, the building department to call, the neighbourhoods we work in and the roads we use to get there.
Town — Erie County (includes the Village of Williamsville) · about 5 miles from our yard. No published dumpster permit found. We keep containers on private property and check with the Building Department (716-631-7080) if the street is unavoidable.
Town of Tonawanda and the separate City of Tonawanda — Erie County · about 6 miles from our yard. No published dumpster permit in the Town or the City. Containers go on private property; we call the Town (716-877-8801) or City (716-695-1806) building office if the street is unavoidable.
Town — Erie County · about 6 miles from our yard. No published dumpster permit. Containers go on private property; we check with Code Enforcement (716-558-3242) if the street is the only option.
City — Erie County · about 6 miles from our yard. No permit on private property. For the street, City Code § 194-4 lets the Chief Engineer permit up to a third of the street and sidewalk when the lot has no room; we arrange it through Code Enforcement (716-827-6421).
Village — inside the Town of Tonawanda, Erie County · about 5 miles from our yard. No published dumpster permit found. Containers go on private property; we check with the Building Department (716-873-5700) when a narrow lot makes the street the only option.
Village — mainly in the Town of Lancaster, Erie County · about 6 miles from our yard. Yes: Village Code § 198-34 sets a residential temporary-dumpster permit at $10, plus $35 a day beyond 14 days ($100 commercial, plus $35 a day beyond 30 days). We arrange it through Building Inspection (716-683-1400).
Town and Village — Erie County · about 7 miles from our yard. Village: every dumpster needs a $25 permit from the Village Clerk (Village Code Ch. 126), approved by the Village Board, and none in the right-of-way without Board consent. Town: no dumpster permit, but nothing may sit in the road; containers go on private property.
Town and Village — Erie County · about 10 miles from our yard. Town: no dumpster permit found, containers on private property. Village: a street placement needs written permission from the Manager of Public Works under Village Code § 187-6 (max three months, guarded and lit at night).

City — Niagara County · about 18 miles from our yard. No permit on private property. The city routes street placements through Public Works (716-286-4840) and Code Enforcement (716-286-4450); no fee or time limit is published, so we call ahead for you.
Dumpster permits in the City of Buffalo
On a private driveway or lot, no permit. On a City of Buffalo street, sidewalk, tree lawn or any other public place, City Code § 413-4(C) requires a permit from the Commissioner of Public Works before the container arrives, and the container must be covered whenever it is not being loaded and must not obstruct the right-of-way. The permit is a street/sidewalk obstruction permit from the DPW Traffic Division, Room 512, City Hall, 65 Niagara Square, (716) 851-5366: apply at least seven business days ahead with a $1,000,000 certificate of liability insurance naming the City of Buffalo as additional insured and a maintenance-and-protection-of-traffic diagram. An unpermitted container on public property is a Class J violation at $665, and every day is a separate offence. Our permit guide walks through the whole process.
Outside the city the rules change at every boundary, which is why each town page above states its own. In short: the Village of Lancaster permits every dumpster ($25), Depew has a temporary-dumpster permit ($10 residential), Lackawanna can permit part of the street, the villages of Orchard Park and Hamburg need written permission from public works, Cheektowaga needs Town Board permission for any obstruction, and Amherst, Tonawanda, West Seneca, Kenmore and the towns of Lancaster, Orchard Park and Hamburg publish no dumpster permit for private property.
